Tanu Gurjar was killed by her father and cousin after refusing to marry the man they had picked for her. She had opposed the marriage, expressing her desire to marry a man of her own choice.

She was shot in her chest, forehead, neck, and face.

Tanu’s wedding was set for January 18, but hours before the killing, Tanu shared a video on social media accusing her family of coercion and expressing fears for her life saying “If I die, my family is responsible.”
