Destenie was shot and killed by her boyfriend.

Destenie was the property manager for an apartment complex where she drove with her boyfriend and their two children to tell a group of men who were playing loud music and drinking in their vehicles to leave.
Witnesses told police the men refused to leave and at some point, the suspect began shooting at the group.

Destenie walked in front of him to try to stop him from shooting when he shot her in the head. He said he intentionally fired his gun multiple times but did not mean to shoot Destenie.
