Tanisha was found dead alongside her ex-boyfriend after filing a protective order against him. He had shot her before turning the gun on himself.

They had dated for over 5 years. Tanisha described experiencing domestic violence during and after her relationship including allegations of physical, sexual and emotional abuse.

She said he threatened to kill them both unless she followed his orders.

On December 18 she was granted a two-year order of protection that forbade him from harassing or abusing Tanisha, being near her home or within 100 feet of her.

Tanisha was a teacher at LEARN Charter School.

“My god mama was nothing but a beautiful soul, she helped everybody, she made sure everybody was good and never needed for nothing.”
