Valerie was killed by her ex-fiancé in her apartment. She had 17 blunt-force trauma marks on her head, as well as an indication of strangulation.

Officers found Valerie dead after receiving a second call asking for another welfare check. The complainant maintained “that it was unlike Green to be out of contact for seven hours.” During that call, they were informed “that Green recently ended her relationship with her fiancé,” who lived in the same apartment.
