Matyka Brown was shot and killed in her home.

Police say they believed the suspect entered her home through a window and waited there before approaching Matyka and her two children, 14 and 9 years old.

“The suspect in this case is not the father of the kids, but they refer to him as their stepfather,”.

He said the children ran away from the scene but one of them did witness part of the crime. The kids made it to the home of a neighbor, who called 911.
